The offer includes a competitive salary, a work visa, medical insurance, and paid annual leave. You will receive employee discounts, meals during duty, return flights for international hires, and promising opportunities for development and advancement. This position offers two days off each week to promote work-life balance. The company values growth, learning, and community, making it attractive for those who aspire to build a solid foundation in hospitality.

Job Responsibilities

The Junior Sommelier supports the beverage program, assists with wine pairings, and ensures top-quality service to guests. Duties include maintaining the wine cellar, inventory, and coordinating with kitchen and waitstaff for optimal guest experiences. You’ll participate in recommending and upselling wine selections, providing exceptional customer support, and gaining valuable exposure to renowned hospitality concepts. Fundamental Hospitality expects sommelier candidates to bring previous F&B experience in upscale settings, WSET Level 1 certification, excellent English, and preferably additional European languages. Availability for a trial shift is required.

Advantages

The perks of this role extend beyond a competitive compensation package. Paid annual leave allows for relaxation and balance, while work visa and insurance give peace of mind. The brand ecosystem offers significant potential for on-the-job learning. Employee discounts encourage loyalty and camaraderie, and meals during duty ensure you’re cared for during your shift.

Disadvantages

One of the main potential downsides for this position is the intense environment common in upscale restaurant service. Meeting high standards daily can be demanding, making resilience and adaptability key traits for successful candidates. The requirement to be available for a trial shift with short notice could present challenges if you are not currently local. Additionally, luxury hospitality roles may entail evening or weekend work, which could limit flexibility for some applicants.

Verdict

For hospitality professionals looking to sharpen their beverage expertise and grow within recognized brands, the Junior Sommelier role at Fundamental Hospitality offers a well-rounded package and a vibrant company culture. Those who thrive in dynamic, guest-focused settings will find this a highly rewarding opportunity, backed by ample support and resources for career progression.
